Introduction

PM Kusum Yojana 2026 is one of the most beneficial government schemes for farmers in India. If you are struggling with high diesel costs or electricity bills, this scheme allows you to install a solar irrigation pump with up to 60% subsidy and even earn extra income by selling electricity.

Launched by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, this scheme is still active in 2026, and new updates including PM-KUSUM 2.0 are expected soon.


What is PM Kusum Yojana 2026?

PM Kusum Yojana 2026 (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan) was launched in March 2019 to promote solar energy use in agriculture.

Key Objectives:

  • Provide solar-powered irrigation pumps to farmers
  • Reduce dependency on diesel
  • Increase farmer income through solar energy

National Target:

  • 34,800 MW solar capacity
  • ₹34,000+ crore central support

Progress Update (Till February 2026)

  • Component A: 800+ MW installed
  • Component B: 10+ lakh solar pumps installed
  • Component C: 13+ lakh feeders solarized

Components of PM Kusum Yojana 2026

Component A – Solar Power Plants

  • 500 kW to 2 MW solar plants
  • Can be installed on barren land
  • Earn income for up to 25 years

Component B – Standalone Solar Pumps

  • Up to 7.5 HP capacity
  • Ideal for off-grid areas

Component C – Solarization of Pumps

  • Convert existing pumps to solar
  • Sell excess electricity to government

Subsidy Details (2026 Updated)

For Component B & C:

  • 60% subsidy (30% central + 30% state)
  • 30% bank loan
  • Only 10% farmer contribution

Special States (like Uttarakhand, Himachal, J&K, NE states):

  • Higher central subsidy
  • Farmer contribution as low as 20%

✔️ For Component A:

  • No direct subsidy
  • Income through Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)

  1. Visit the official portal
  2. Click on Registration / Apply
  3. Select your state
  4. Choose component (A/B/C)
  5. Fill form and upload documents
  6. Submit application
  7. Deposit 10% cost

👉 Installation is completed within 30–90 days after approval


Important Dates (2026 Update)

  • Component B & C deadline: 30 September 2026
  • Component A completion: March 2027
